Travel Photography Competition – week 18

Hello everyone! I hope you’ve been eagerly awaiting the next edition of our Travel Photography Competition in which, every week, we dish out three stunning photos sent by YOU which were the most liked on our Facebook page. In this week’s selection we show you photos sent or published between 16th and 23rd October.

This week has been quite hectic and stressful for us as we were moving house and although still in Barcelona, we’re back in our favourite cosmopolitan area El Raval. However, in the moving fever we haven’t forgotten about our little competition so here you are, a fresh selection of pictures sent from around the world by our contributing photographers.

The first winning shot, called “The Rabbi” was taken in New York City, USA and sent by a young, but very talented, photographer Jake Metzger. I love simply everything about this shot, the composition, the light and the pensiveness of the rabbi, so much in contrast with his surrounding on the train. And although its your votes, and not my liking, what counts in this competition, I’m very happy this shot made its way through the selection net this week.

New York City is, after Tel Aviv, the metropolitan area with the second largest Jewish population in the world, reaching 1,5 million last year.

The second winning photo this week was taken at Praia dos Ingleses in Porto, Portugal. The name of this beach means in Portuguese “Beach of the English” and as you can imagine it derives from the fact that it’s frequently visited by this pasty nation :)

This lovely and peaceful photo was taken by a Portuguese photographer Manuel Meneses. Subscribe to his Facebook channel for more!

And the last photo with the biggest amount of votes this week was sent by Valerie Griffis Cullen-Stein and taken on Lavender Fields, Carousel Farms, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA. The Carousel Farm,  first established in 1748, was once a dairy farm, then a horse farm and, in the mid-20th century, it became an exotic animal farm. You can visit the farm for free every Saturday between 9am and 5pm.
