Hello everyone and welcome to the New Year’s Eve edition of our Travel Photography Competition. This week we are reviewing pictures published on our Facebook page between 17th and 24th November 2012. Every week we bring you the three most popular photos sent to us by photographers travelling around the planet.
The first winning photo this week was taken in Lassen Volcanic National Park in northeastern California, USA. The most dominant feature of the park is Lassen Peak, the largest plug dome volcano in the world. It’s also one of the few places in the world where all the different types of volcanoes can be found.
Lassen Volcanic National Park may be accessed via State Routes SR 89 and SR 44. It’s open year-round, 24h/day, however road access might be limited in the winter months. An individual entry pass costs $5 (including a bike or a motorbike) and a car pass costs $10, both valid for a 7 day period. For more information go to the official website.
This stunning photo was sent by Michael Keel Photography, a photographer and travel writer based in San Francisco.
The second winning photo in this week’s selection was taken by the Seine in Paris, France at sunrise. This 776 km long river rises at Source-Seine, 30 kilometres north-west of Dijon in northern France and disappears in the English Channel. There are 37 bridges crossing the river in Paris alone.
This lovely early morning shot was sent by Beau-Daniel Robertson from Melbourne, Australia.
And the last stunning photo this year was taken at sunset at Hallett Cove, Adelaide, South Australia. It’s a small rocky beach, named after John Hallett, who discovered it in 1837.
This great shot (taken with 3 sec exposure) was sent by EM&I Photography, who takes pictures mostly in Australia.
Thanks to everyone who participated in this week’s edition of the competition, either by sending or by voting for the pictures! We wish you nice end of the weekend!
